There's nothing better than when designers take inspiration from our homeland and use it in their designs. Like Jeremy Laing paying tribute to the great north in his fall 2010 collection with luxe layered knits, and sustainably hunted red fox, muskrat, and beaver furs. Then we discovered Jillian Wood's handcrafted accessories line Headmistress. Let us tell you, we were seriously swooning over these pieces. Feathered headdresses, bib necklaces, fur muffs -- we love it all.

Embracing all that is Canadian, Jillian worked with rich colours and textures inspired by nature. And we were happy to learn that she sources her materials close to home; vintage fur (think the kind hanging in your grandma's closet) is repurposed for her pieces, wild turkey feathers are sourced from Ontario. And if we weren't already over the moon about Headmistress, this spring marks the addition of a higher-end luxury line Love by Headmistress. Plus new fabric turbans! Yes turbans and headwraps -- you know how obsessed we are. And if you didn't, check out our post from a couple weeks ago here.
