Rita Liefhebber

Last night we headed to Jonathan + Olivia for Rita Liefhebber's f/w11 presentation. We absolutely love the aesthetic of her designs, so were thrilled she  returned to her hometown to give an intimate presentation in addition to her showing last month in New York.  Models (or not) walked casually through the crowd before posing in front of a stark white wall for a line of adoring photographers. As soon as we saw the girls with their undone hair, we thought "Hey! That could be us." Stephanie was excited to see her non-brushed hairstyle catching on. It's Rita's nonchalant styling that give her collections an approachable feel. With her model-editor-stylist background she knows just what girls want to wear. Proof: we want to wear all of it.

We loved the laid back presentation suited to the Ossington crowd, and much prefer seeing the clothes up close. We've got our eyes on the leather tunic layered over a hand dyed silk shirt. Inspired by the northern lights (how can you resist her Canadian references?) ombre shirtdresses and velvet tees came in splashes of burgandy, mauve and magenta. Other favourites were the wool overcoats trimmed with black leather, cozy oversized mohair sweaters and loose fitting trousers and drawstring pants with leather piping. If you can take an outfit from the sofa to the street, sign us up.

Now that Jacklyn's bangs have grown, she's happy she can wear her hair like this all summer...goodbye blowdryer!

We're hardly crafty, but Rita's hand knit pieces make us (almost) want to give it a go.  And we loved how the braided necklaces add a pop of colour to an otherwise muted outfit.
