At Home: Dining Room Room
In all of the places we have called home, I have been insistent on having a proper dining room. And while Adam and I perhaps eat dinner too often in front of the TV, we love hosting and let's just say we've been known to throw a few [dinner] parties in this space. It's self explanatory when you scroll down to see his bar.
The dining room is a traditional layout with a gorgeous original bay window that floods the room with soft, warm light. When it came to refreshing the space, our goal was to blend traditional and modern elements together. With the help of Structube, we were able to mix and match pieces to combine twentieth century modern designs with vintage charm.
Again, we let the architectural background be the star by painting all the walls white. With dark walnut floors and an antique wood credenza we use as a bar, we needed to find a dining table that would lighten up the room. The Melina dining table from Structube did just that. With a curved tabletop, and warm, neutral tones (we got the teak version), the mid-century aesthetic worked with the classic style of some of the other pieces we had. Plus it is extendable, making it multi-functional for the space. One of the reason's I go back to Structube again and again, is that they make quality pieces to fit any budget. At a price of only $299, this table was an easy choice! I've long been drawn to the style of Hans Wegner's Wishbone chairs. However, tracking down originals comes at a cost. These Denmark chairs from Structube are a nod to the aesthetic with a woven seat, a curved back and tapered legs. They are made of beech wood with a paper cord seat, and get this. Only $139 each! A mobile chandelier from West Elm hovers over top the table, catching your eye as soon as you walk in the room.
Stylish Storage Solutions
The Bergen sideboard was a stylish storage solution for our dining space. I use it to display artwork, books and records. But with concealed shelving and drawers, it's perfect for storing plates, glasses and linens too.
We absolutely love the look of our dining room now. Structube makes it so affordable to freshen up a space with a few key pieces. And what a transformation from what it looked like before!
