At Home: Living Room Inspiration

The past year has taught me a lot about my personal style. Or how much it has changed, at least. We're back and settled in our Hamilton home. After living in a different city for the past year (and missing home sweet home so very much), I've been able to look at it with a fresh perspective. That means rethinking the way different rooms were styled before. A clean slate, of sorts.

I've mentioned this before, but our home is at least 120 years old. It's full of history, charm. And it has the most beautiful, spacious living area. Picture this: high ceilings, original bay windows with stained glass transoms, crown moulding, the works. Now. When we first moved in, my taste was more rustic. I gravitated towards dark wood and vintage (not in a good way) pieces. Fast forward six years, and let's say I've lightened up just a lil'. I now find myself drawn to influences from modernist furniture movements -- the Bauhaus and art deco periods and midcentury design. I've been making mood-boards with references for how I'd like to style our living room. And I'd love to hear what you think! Do you have a favourite? Drop me a note, and let me know.
