At Home: The Living Room
That perfect Parisian apartment with period details you dream about on Pinterest.. well, let's just say it's hard to find. Especially in a modern condo. Spoiled by crown moulding and wainscoting and all that good stuff we had in our century home, the first thing I did was repaint and add panels to the feature wall. I love the visual interest it added, and how it helped to create a focal point in the living space.
I was initially drawn to this unit because of the washed grey hardwood floors, the light that floods the space and the generous ceiling height. Now with crisp white walls (they were a dreary blue colour before), I could look at the living space with a fresh lens.
While the colour scheme overall is muted and minimalist, it was done so with intention. The deep grey sofa, purchased five years ago at EQ3, has held up to two dogs and plenty of lounging. And with plenty of texture, including a woollen area rug, velvet pillows, and faux fur throws, the space actually feels relaxing and cozy.
I do love marble and brass. Marble topped coffee tables, brass lamps, brass side tables and accessories. Okay fine, maybe it's a bit much. But it's a throw back to my love of mid century modern. And it adds the perfect amount of glam to the space.
