Film Lives in Hamilton
September is our favourite month. It's a month where Hamilton's arts and culture scene truly shines. In addition to Supercrawl and the AGH World Film Festival, this year marks the first annual Cinema Hamilton Awards. This year's Festival runs from September 21 - 30, with Cinema Hamilton Awards as the closing celebrations. With eight categories, the awards recognizes the best in independent film and local filmmakers. Indie films previously submitted to Hamilton24, the Hamilton Film Festival, the Hamilton Music and Film Festival and indieOPTION’s Breakout Film Festival between 2010 and the present may be submitted. Submissions must be received by August 3, as the nominated films will start screening on Cable 14 in early August, as well as on the Cinema Hamilton Awards Facebook page. Like your favourite film to cast your vote for the Audience Choice Award! We're excited to see what films are submitted for The Best of Hamilton Award category. Are you a film lover? Do you want to support independent filmmakers? Make a donation (minimum $10) and pick up a Cinema Hamilton Awards reusable shopping tote at The Shop at AGH or the Design Annex. The tote comes with two tickets to The AGH's i♥filmseries, as well as a poster with photos of Hamilton's architectural heritage by local photographer Reg Beaudry. 100% of the proceeds will be put towards a cash prize at the Cinema Hamilton Awards!
This year's Festival will feature 29 international films. While I've begged Annette, the AGH World Film Festival Director to let me in on the films, she is keeping her lips sealed! But based on some of the hints, I'm placing bets that Wim Wenders' Pina, Woody Allen's To Rome With Love and David Cronenberg's Cosmopolis will be among those featured. On September 5, The AGH will be hosting Trailers & Teasers, where they will officially announce the full lineup. Advance Festival passes are on sale now for a special price. Get yours here!
