Layered looks are my go-to. Especially when transitioning between seasons. I fell for this shirt dress by TOME towards the end of summer (Hudson's Bay sale, holla!) and felt like I could easily wear it through the fall.
TOME has a smart, simple, modern aesthetic that appeals to me. I took cues from the SS17 collection they just showed in New York last month, noting what trends the designers were carrying over from fall into next spring. There is an interesting transition happening, whereby designers are using the foundation of their current collection to inform the next. I prefer this slow build, over the drastic departure of seasonal trends we're used to seeing. With TOME, I loved some of the looks they showed in different collections layered over raw, recycled denim. And it truly felt like the right way to wear this shirt dress right now.
We shot this look at Saint James Espresso Bar & Eatery. It's one of my very favourite places in the city. The coffee, the aesthetic, and the vibe are all on point. I can spend hours here researching, writing, editing photos during a work session. It's the first place I think of for brunch. Try the avocado toast. I swear by it.
